The SR1LP Soil Respiration Package measures soil CO2 exchange in the field using an open or closed gas exchange system connected to a Soil Chamber. The soil chamber is placed directly on the soil surface, or has attached collar that can be buried in advance. Air is re-circulated through the chamber and through an NDIR CO2 analyzer by a battery powered DC Pump and a flow meter. CO2 accumulation is monitored in software and simple data analysis tools are used to calculate the rate of soil CO2 efflux. The system is easily portable and can be assembled in minutes.
